Just Keep Walking

With such a short amount of time here in London we try to do at least one thing new everyday. To explore the city, to see the sights, to be tourists and to not. For today, we went to the Imperial War Museum. This was a great experience and trip. Right when you walk through the gates you are greeted by the biggest machine gun I have ever seen. What an entrance! We went specifically for the Holocaust exhibit and it did not disappoint. The exhibit was really well done, you walked through a timeline of events. From the rise of Hitler to The Night of Broken Glass, into the ghettos, concentration camps and more. In between the artifacts and memorabilia there were intermittent stories of individual people, the lives they lead and how the time affected them. There were videos set up every so often with Holocaust survivors telling there perspectives and stories. It was a really great experience and something I think everyone should see.
We explored other part of the museum like the World War 1 and 2 section. There was a trench experience where they made a room look (and smell!) like a trench. You walked through the darkened allies feeling like you were in the army with the sounds of bombs going off around you. It is great to learn what it must have been like for all those many soldiers. What a different life than I have led. I also only went in quickly to the "Secret War" part of the museum with none other than James Bond as a feature. In this museum there is a little something for everyone.
To make the day even better we went to the Victoria and Albert Museum. This place is huge! My favorite section was the fashion exhibit! I mean, what girl would not enjoy that?! We walked and walked and walked around that place. So many cool things to see! I guess as a tourist you have to get to used to walking. But I won't complain about it because I had a Ben's cookies and it didn't rain once.
 Imperial War Museum.
Riding the Tube. Nice break from walking.
Favorites from the fashion exhibit.
